Summer is our recouping time. It opens doors for new obsessions and exploration. Here are some things I’ve been enjoying this week.
Book: The Secret Life of Color is the book I reach for when I want a little history and science mixed in with art. It’s a book you can pick up and read a section of to feel a little smarter.
Poetry: While we were in St Augustine in June, I bought a beautiful book of Emily Dickerson poetry. Having a book is wonderful, but having a beautiful book is even better.
Art: For some reason my internal clock doesn’t like the morning hours. I’m learning to go with it instead of against it. Afternoons are for art in my little part of the world.
Museums: Our local museum is offering free admission on Sundays this summer. Does your neighborhood museum offer something similar?
Family Time: How many card games do you know how to play? This summer we’ve been teaching the kids how to play different card games. The heat here is Florida is unbearable most of the day. So, learning card games in the a/c has been a fun treat.
Art Supply: For Mother’s Day, I received a beautiful Meeden easel. It is much larger than I expected, and I love it. The adjustments on this baby are amazing, and it even lays flat. Couldn’t be happier with it. I’m obsessed, in case you can’t tell.
Have a wonderful weekend!
